What you as an intern must look for before opting for Internship with any Employer
Thousands of College students hit the ground every year. They flock to the employers across the county to begin their internship. During this time employers are always concerned about keeping their interns busy. Accordingly, Employers offer them a good internshala and create a meaningful experience.<br>
As Employers look for values, skills and workplace etiquette’s in a good intern. Employers must create an atmosphere, where students can learn and make a positive contribution to the organization goals. Which creates a win-win situation for both employers and students.
1. There must be a clearly defined Job role
As a Management intern you are a college student with very little experience. Therefore, you must clearly understand the expectations of the employer. Employer must define the work assignments and their expectations from Intern during Internship.
Employer must provide an actual job description. It can be very helpful in defining the internship to the intern. Besides this, it will also help them to evaluate performance at the middle and end of the Internship.
2. Employer must Ensure Regular Reviews of Performance
A good performance review by Employer provides an opportunity to help intern to learn. Review offers true measure of their performance as per employer’s expectations. <p>Most importantly as reviews by employers come with constructive criticism. Reviews help the intern to improve and are also followed by praise. Moreover, this will let interns know that they are doing well and are meeting the employer’s expectation</p>
3. Enough work must be provided to Intern
Usually Interns complain about not having enough work to do. Whenever they do not have any concrete assignment to work upon that will benefit them in learning hence they lose interest.
Henceforth Employer must ensure that interns are offered concrete short and long-term projects. There upon interns can groom and learn and also deliver as per the organization’s expectations.
4. Join the Employer that Rewards you
As a Management trainee, you are working in a learning environment. Nothing is more frustrating than to be on a job where there is nowhere to go to get your questions answered. As a College intern, you must feel comfortable to go to the supervisors for answers.
Additionally, Employers must reward the interns in terms of appreciation letters, Achievement certificates for the good work done. Henceforth, Mile stones achieved during internship will help you in a positive way to get growth in your future full-time job assignments.
